Simmi had a few therapists and her social worker Arthur come out to our house last Friday. She was being evaluated to see how far she has come and if any further therapy would be needed.
Simmi absolutely loved every second of the attention that she got and it was so wonderful to see how affectionate, engaging and enthusiastic she was. I didn’t know what to expect from her since the last time she was evaluated was last year and it always took some time to get her to warm up to people being around her. Not this time though! She was ready to play, sit close and have fun.
She is coming along in her development very nice, although there were some concerns about her vision. We will be seeing a specialist in May for her eyes and a therapist from the School for the Blind will be coming out to the house to do an evaluation. I took her to the doctor yesterday because they also wanted me to have her checked for asthma. That has me a little freaked out. At her appointment, her doctor referred me to an allergist who also specializes in asthma. It seems that when Simone is very active and running around, she gets out of breath very easily and starts to pant and cough. Even if she is only a little active she starts to have labored breathing and when she gets like that, often times she will come over and want to be held, putting her head down on my chest for a few minutes, or grabbing her blanket and laying down on the floor. I have been trying to keep her calm, but she is just full of energy and wants to run and explore things.
If she does in fact have asthma, it will change our home even more. Geez, I don’t know how much more change I can take!
Here is a video I took of her with her new friends. It was pretty long, so I just cut it down to a few minutes:

My youngest has asthma and it is always so difficult to get him to sit still, especially with flair ups. He knows he has it too - he’s aware of the feeling, so that does help a bit…but he’s stubborn as well.
